The Mystic 70 design is being developed for an owner who loves the concept of the 66 but wants to use his yacht for corporate entertainment and charter and thus will have a full time skipper and crew. The additional 4ft length enables the designer to include a self contained crew cabin forward. Crew can gain access into the yacht via the shower and a guest cabin if conditions are such that it is not practical to use the deck access ladder/fore hatch. There are two identical double guest cabins, each with en-suite heads. The galley, as on the 66 is huge, extending the full beam of the yacht, ideal for entertainment/charter. The slightly elevated saloon is spacious, the wrap around deck saloon windows will make it immensely light and airy. Those standing can see out through the wrap around deck saloon windows, while those seated still can see out through the hull ports. The version illustrated has the well known Mystic feature of a mid level chart table, where the watchmaster will have 360 degree external vision when seated at the two person navigator s seat, this also enables standing headroom in the machinery space under the navigation seat. The slightly larger beam allows a fifth two berth cabin to be included aft Alternatively this space could be used as a workshop or office. As the yacht will be used for entertaining, a further valuable feature is a day head at the foot of the steps from the central cockpit, thereby allowing guests to have toilet facilities without having to go through a private cabin. The preliminary design also includes a companionway from the aft stateroom to the working cockpit - the owner wishes to actively participate in running the yacht when at sea.
Slight changes to the deck plan have also been made, notably moving the mainsheet traveller aft of the working cockpit, thus allowing a level walk through from centre cockpit to aft cockpit and thence, to the fold down boarding/bathing platform.
The profile, deck plan and cabin plan drawings should be taken as an indication of what Mystic believe to be ideal for a specific owner, these illustrate just one of the possibilities. Alterations within these general parameters are possible as is the choice of wood and fabrics.
