In the January 2004 issue of US magazine Cruising World, the Hallberg-Rassy 40 was presented winner of both the category "Best Liveaboard Cruiser" and "Best Overall Cruising Vessel". This is the second year in a row a Hallberg-Rassy wins overall, last year it was the HR 43.
